A judging panel consisting of 21 water industry experts from all over the world announced in August that the Geelong Racing Club was one of 31 finalists for the National Save Water Awards. The Club was nominated for the Small Business (<50 staff) category.
The nomination was in part for the strategies the Club has implemented recently. These include the construction of the first synthetic Race Track in Victoria, the installation of a Bore for Sand Track watering and dust suppression, installation of tanks in the training precinct, and reduction in garden sizes.
The Club is committed to further reducing its reliance on potable water use and will implement further strategies over the coming years. |
